Following news of Microsoft’s massive layoffs and the projects that were subsequently canceled, journalist Jason Schreier noted that Xbox management was so impressed with a beta version of ZeniMax Online, tentatively titled Blackbird, that Xbox Studios chief Matt Booty had to stop Phil Spencer from playing the beta to complete the meeting!
Unfortunately, this project was canceled despite the management’s enthusiasm for it. According to Schreier’s sources, the cancellation came as a shock to the hundreds of ZeniMax Online employees working on it. Schreier reviewed some of the project’s offerings and was impressed by the experience, which offered a high degree of mobility flexibility.
