Rematch aims to create an unconventional sports experience, far removed from FIFA and Rocket League.


Pierre Tarno, creative director of Rematch, spoke about the studio’s vision from the early stages of development, noting that they weren’t interested in imitating successful models like FIFA or Rocket League. Instead, the idea was to offer a new, player-centric experience on the pitch, rather than a traditional team simulation.

Tarnow added that the studio doesn’t believe in “safe” approaches to game development, as repetition can rob a project of its soul. Instead, they wanted to deliver a game with a fast-paced, straightforward arcade style, which helped Rematch attract over a million players on its first day of launch.
