In a recent interview, Alex Hutchinson, director of Revenge of the Savage Planet, expressed concerns about the impact of launching games on Xbox Game Pass from day one. He explained that this strategy could lead to a devaluation of games, as players become less willing to pay for them over time. He said this could harm the gaming industry as a whole in the long run.
Although the development team chose to launch the game on Game Pass from day one, Hutchinson believes it would be better to delay the game’s availability on subscription services for a year, similar to what happens in the movie industry. He noted that the goal of launching the game on the service was to increase its reach and encourage players to purchase additional content, but the results weren’t what the team expected.
