During a podcast with Final Fantasy series composer Nobuo Uematsu, Uematsu talked about the reason for Square Soft’s collapse, saying that the reason was the departure of Hironobu Sakaguchi, the famous name behind Final Fantasy.
Uematsu said that Sakaguchi was and will remain the big boss and that he may not know it, but the situation at Square Soft became bad after his departure and that the company collapsed suddenly after his departure and that Sakaguchi’s leadership style attracted people to him. Uematsu concluded his speech by talking about Square Enix and praising the company’s ability to get back on its feet after the many problems and challenges it faced.
