Famitsu sales list for February 19-25, 2024

The Japanese sales monitoring agency Famitsu/Interburn issued its weekly report, and the sales results for (hardware/games) were as follows:

The Nintendo Switch, which will soon celebrate its eighth year on the market, continues to lead device sales in the Japanese market with more than 50,000 units sold this week, a decline from the same period last year in which it sold more than 61,000 units. The device is certainly living its last year on the market, but it is still achieving results. Distinctive, it is the device that has become the best-selling device in the history of the Japanese gaming industry market.

Hardware sales

The PlayStation 5 is witnessing a significant decline in performance during this period in Japan. The device sold 33,000 units this week, a significant decline from last year, in which it sold more than 91,000 units at the time. In total, the device is currently selling half the number of units it sold last year for the same period. Perhaps it will be released. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has been improving over the past few weeks.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong continues to top the game sales list and will soon celebrate surpassing the barrier of 100,000 copies sold in stores. Perhaps it was unexpected, but we will return again to witnessing complete dominance of Switch games on the list.

It may be one of the last times this will be achieved with the release of a number of powerful games for the PlayStation platform during the coming period, but the huge Switch owner base in Japan is helping to achieve this even as the device lives its final year there.
