Hideo Kojima revealed that Italian actor Luca Marinelli, who portrays Neil in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, initially thought he was playing Solid Snake from the Metal Gear series. This came after seeing himself in the trailer wearing the iconic headband, which led him to believe he was participating in a Snake-related project.
Kojima explained the situation by saying that Marinelli told him:
“I’m so glad I’m Snake,” Kojima laughingly replied, “You’re not Snake, you’re just wearing a headband!” This hilarious exchange reflects the visual similarity between the two characters, and shows how Kojima’s Metal Gear legacy continues to loom large in his new projects.
